CanariasFoto - Photos of the canary islands Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Gomera and La Palma. Landscape, nature, cities and interesting places.
The idea for the publication of this Website came from the combination of
my hobby photography and the privilege to live at the Canary Islands.
I have been practising photography since my youth and in the course of many years
I have developed my skills, using various simple cameras, pocket devices of doubtful quality,
durable Praktikas, Canon A1 and Olympus 707 up to a Nikon F90X with objectives for focal lengths
from 28 to 210, the optimal equipment for me.
My love for the Canary Islands began in November 1989 when I came to Tenerife the
first time for an attendance with friends on La Gomera.
At that time I made the first island roundtrip and was impressed by the beauty
and variety of Tenerife. Plans to settle on the neighbour island La Gomera failed,
but the idea remained in the back of my head and the wish to live here grew with every
stay in the following winters. 1994 my private
situation changed, I assumed a job supply on Tenerife and settled in Puerto de la
Cruz. After some vocational heights and depths and an attempt of reintegration in my
native country Austria I live now again in the beautiful green north of Tenerife.
From December 1999 to December 2002 I worked for the canarian web portal www.eCanarias.com and then for the property portal www.immo7.com until April 2003.
Now I am running my own company together with two partners. The advertising agency Alamo, Smola & Horz - Agencia de Marketing y Comunicación in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
I have now the intention of developing this photo page continuously and to integrate all
the other islands to offer a large photo file for all the friends of the Canary Islands.
CanariasFoto has grown during the last 4 years, contains nearly 1.500 photos and receives app. 25.000 visitors monthly.
I hope that I will have more time left for taking photos
in the future, to complete my gallery by adding more islands.
